Chapter 17: Industrial Light Magic

  Chapter Seventeen: Industrial Light Magic

After watching Mackenzie Clayton leave, Song Tang couldn't help himself and suddenly hugged Jessica beside him, spinning her around in a circle. It wasn't until then that Song Tang felt his own loss of composure. But strangely, Song Tang really liked this feeling, he thought the Jessica in his arms was very soft and comfortable to hold.

Realizing his own loss of composure, Song Tang hurriedly lowered his head to see Jessica's expression. In fact, Jessica's original height of 1.7 meters was not much shorter than his own with the help of high heels. It would be more accurate to say that he was looking at her straight on rather than lowering his head. Only then did Song Tang discover that Jessica, being held in his arms, didn't seem to be angry or embarrassed. On her delicate face, two pink blushes appeared, adding to her enchanting charm.

Looking at the enchanting red lips just a few centimeters away from himself, Song Tang forgot that Jessica was only pretending to be his girlfriend. At this moment, Song Tang only wanted to hold the girl in his arms forever and make her belong to him forever. Thinking of this, Song Tang no longer cared that they were in a coffee shop or that there were people passing by around them. He leaned down and kissed the red lips in front of him, sweet and warm, making him dizzy.

Although it was just a light touch, the two of them parted ways immediately, but Song Tang still felt the taste of their first kiss. Jessica, on the other hand, was even more flustered, and her already thin face turned bright red as she hid in Song Tang's arms, her ample chest pressing against his, making him feel a wave of softness.

In the United States, especially in a city like New York that is highly open and free, behavior like what Song and Tang just did isn't very common, but it didn't attract a crowd of onlookers either. The few customers who passed by simply gave them congratulatory glances.

But even so, the young boy and girl, Song Tang and Jessica, couldn't take it anymore. So Song Tang quickly paid the bill and took Jessica's hand out of the coffee shop.

Two young men and women walked hand in hand in New York City Park. Due to the weather, there were not many people in the park at this time. The two sat down on a long bench, Song Tang boldly put his arms around Jessica's waist, hugged her into his arms, blocked the cold wind blowing from afar for her, and whispered in Jessica's ear: "Jessica, I like you, will you be my girlfriend?"

"Ah!" The two of them didn't have much to say, everywhere was filled with plainness, but it was warm and made people feel very real, that's the charm of ordinariness.

Two people leaning on each other, the winter sun shining on them, with a warm glow surrounding them, symbolizing happiness and expressing blessings.

After a while, the girl's voice sounded again: "Song, why are you so particular about 'Jurassic Park'? You even went there in person."

"Haha, this one! Because I think this script is an opportunity for us to get high box office now, others come and I'm not very reassured, only myself personally take action. Besides, if it wasn't for coming to New York this time, I wouldn't have gotten you, this beauty!" Song Tang joked.

"Disgusting, every serious one, ah! Where are you putting your hand?"

  。。。。。。

Song Tang accompanied Jessica and the two stayed in New York for another two days, where they filled every corner of this prosperous modern metropolis with their joyful laughter.

  Los Angeles

Back in Los Angeles, Song and Tang found themselves once again thrown into their tense work.

"George, how's the lowbrow, post-production going? Can it be released this month?" Song Tang asked, sitting in his own office, to George Johnson, the general manager of Datang.

"Haha, boss, it's going very smoothly. Danny and the others will finish editing the footage soon, and all that's left is special effects processing. At this rate, we'll definitely be able to complete it within a month." George heard Song Tang ask about the film's progress and immediately responded excitedly. For George, what made him most thrilled was being able to see a magnificent movie premiere in his own company.

"Well, that's alright, but be careful, it's better to take your time and make sure the post-production is handled well, otherwise it will affect the visual effects when it's released." Song Tang reminded him with some unease.

"Don't worry, boss, I'll take good care of it." George hastened to assure him.

  Knock knock...

  "Come on in!"

"Song, the Dennis you invited is here. Do you want to see him now?" Just then, his assistant and girlfriend Jessica knocked on the door and walked in while Song Tang was discussing post-production of "Vulgarity" with George.

"Of course, I'll have Dennis come to my office right away." Song Tang instructed George to get back to work and then turned to Jessica.

  "Alright, Song."

Not long after that, Jessica brought a Westerner to Song Tang's office. This person was Dennis Muren, the chief special effects artist of Industrial Light & Magic.

Talking about Industrial Light & Magic, everyone is no stranger to it. After the 1990s, almost all big movies have the mark of Industrial Light & Magic. With Song Tang's thinking, the history of Industrial Light & Magic gradually emerges in his mind:

Industrial Light & Magic, abbreviated as ILM, full name Industrial Light and Magic, also known as Industrial Light Magic. Founded by famous director George Lucas in 1981.

Of the 20 highest-grossing films in box office history, most are visual effects-driven blockbusters or CGI-animated films. The film industry's landscape has been thoroughly altered by special effects. In a sense, the development of Star Wars and ILM is also the history of world cinema's special effects.

The 1977 film Star Wars was the first to use motion control photography. Lucas also invented several other significant technologies for the film, including a mechanical device that could synchronize footage of moving objects with special effects, which had previously been done by hand-painting each frame; this innovation greatly increased efficiency and accuracy in the process.

In 1982, MAGI invented a computer processing method called "Source Sequence" and applied it to the science fiction film Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, which featured the first completely computer-generated scene in movie history.

In 1985, Lumières created the first computer-generated character in film history, "The Stained Glass Knight", for Young Sherlock Holmes, laying the groundwork for the many virtual characters of Star Wars prequels.

In 1989, Lauterbach created the first computer-generated three-dimensional character in film history for the science fiction classic "The Abyss", which laid further groundwork for creating Yoda in the Star Wars prequels.

ILM's T-1000, created for Terminator 2: Judgment Day in 1991, was the first computer-generated main character in movie history. The satirical comedy Death Becomes Her earned ILM its fifth Academy Award because ILM successfully simulated human skin using a computer for the first time.

"Hello, Mr. Dennis! Welcome!" Song Tang said as he quickly stood up to greet Jessica and Dennis when they arrived at his office.

"Hello Mr. Song, it's really surprising, you're still so young, yet already a big boss of a company." Dennis said in surprise after seeing Song Tang.

"Heh heh, dear Mr. Dennis, in this highly developed Republic of America, everything is quite in line with reality, isn't it?" Song Tang said half-jokingly.

"Of course, Mr. Song." Dennis sat down at the invitation of Song Tang and said after adjusting his thoughts: "Mr. Song, our company is very interested in the movie you mentioned, do you have any requirements?"

"Yes, that's right. For this film, I don't want to use traditional methods of filming. The key thing is your company's ability. I want to know if your company can use computer special effects to synthesize dinosaurs. When we're filming, I don't want to use props, but instead use the skeleton directly, and then require your company to perfect it using digital synthesis technology..." Song Tang said according to his own requirements.

"No problem, Mr. Song! Although digital synthesis technology is also something we've only started researching in the past few years and haven't officially used yet, after our multiple tests, this technology has matured and can definitely reach your goals. Our Industrial Light Magic is the best special effects company in the world!" Dennis heard Song Tang's words and said with a bit of surprise...

"It's precisely because Industrial Light & Magic is the best in the industry that we've come to you. Alright, since Mr. Muren has no problem with it, let's discuss this carefully. Using this special effects technique will definitely take a lot of time in post-production, so I hope that as soon as filming starts, Mr. Muren can begin working on it. Although it may be more troublesome, it will save us more time."

Song Tang said, he didn't want this movie to be released until next year.

Although Dennis was curious as to why Song Tang had asked the question, since his employer had spoken, Dennis naturally did what he was told, even if it meant spending a bit more money.
