Magic. Thaumaturgy. Witchcraft. It is a phenomenon that goes by many names, and by many more practices, where man and monster both actively change the very fabric of their world to fit their needs and desires. Because of the limitless possibilities such a force is capable of, a committee of regulators and masters named the Circle of Savants was created to administrate any and all practices regarding magic. For as long as sentient life has had access to the arcane, these protectors and practitioners have done what they can to mitigate and nullify the damage wrought by errant mages and unstable abominations. Countless millennium have passed, and while their work is not over, their numbers have begun to dwindle. Magicians have become a dying breed, and the need to propagate what is left has led to many small, personal disasters.
