A story taking place in the twentieth century, shortly after the end of the first world war and the Weimar republics foundation. After the daughter of Miss Lessmann, a widow whos husband died in the trenches in the fight against france, mysteriously dissapeared, she hires the famous private detective "Ring" who is thrown into an exciting adventure, which lets him become the target of dangerous assasins and getting him involved with a young paper boy named Axel Meier and the exccentric oddity merchant Rudolf von Birkenberg.
