Chapter 123: Telekinetic Mobility

Hazel continued to experiment with Telekinesis, trying to see what the spell’s limits were. Aside from moving things, she was also able to crush objects to a certain degree. It started with a small pebble that she levitated in the air, and by closing her hand, controlling it, she crushed the stone until it was nothing but rubble.

Working her way up, she then picked up a bigger piece of rock before easily destroying it by closing her hand into a fist. She did, however, felt a bit more resistance when attempting to crush the stone. It wasn’t a lot to make it difficult, Hazel could tell that there was a slight difference when doing it.

Noticing this, Hazel theorized that she would face more resistance if the object she was attempting to crush got bigger. It didn’t take long before her theory was proven right when she picked up a piece of debris on the roof from the battle with the invaders and attempted to destroy it.

Just as Hazel tried to close her hand, her fingers tensed, unable to close into a fist. It was as if something was keeping her hand in place. Her eyes then trailed over to the floating rubble, watching as cracks slowly began to form along it.

“It’s definitely crushing, but it’s slow,” Hazel mused, keeping her eyes trained on the slowly crumbling stone. “I wonder if I can add more force and just keep closing my hands.”

Putting this to the test, Hazel applied more of her Telekinesis spell onto the debris while closing her hand further. This seemed to have done the trick because more cracks began to spread across the large piece of rubble, to the point where she could hear loud cracks from it.

Seeing this, Hazel smiled deeply, elated that her test worked. “Okay, so it seems that I can add more telekinesis force into an item. That’s good to know.”

Applying more force to the rubble, it didn’t take long before Hazel managed to completely destroy it, leaving only pebbles as they dropped to the floor. After doing this, a heavy sigh escaped her lips as her eyes gazed down at her trembling hand.

“Guess that took more energy than I expected.”

While Hazel did succeed in crushing the piece of debris, the amount of mana consumed to accomplish it surprised her a bit. She didn’t expect this kind of action to take such a toll on her mana capacity like that.

Despite feeling tired, Hazel was satisfied with the results. Especially since she discovered a new factor when it came to the Telekinesis/Mana Consumption ratio. And that was how much telekinetic force was applied to an object. The more force she invoked on an item, the more mana was needed to get the job done.

Hazel only succeeded in crushing this piece of debris due to her current Intelligence and Wisdom. If it were before she obtained her Evil Eyes and Witch class, then it likely wouldn’t have been possible. It was clear that if she wanted to utilize the full power of Telekinesis, she needed more points in both stats.

Hazel clicked her tongue, growing more annoyed at the increasing demands of the spell. “This isn’t going to be very easy.”

Aside from crushing and moving things, there had to be other methods for using her Telekinesis spell. That was when a thought occurred. A thought that Hazel didn’t think about because of her previous limits.

If she could apply Telekinesis on items around her, then was it possible for her to apply the spell on herself? For instance, levitating herself in the air or, better yet...giving her the ability to fly?

As soon as the thought crossed her mind, the corner of her lips curled into a deep and evil grin. “Guess there’s only one way to find out.”

Pulling herself off the floor, Hazel then focused on casting Telekinesis on herself, curious as to whether it could work. Upon triggering the spell, she suddenly felt her entire body being enveloped by some invisible force. It wasn’t crushing her, but...it felt a bit cramped. Was this how it worked when she would cast Telekinesis on other items?

Hazel grimaced at the uncomfortable sensation, unsure of how to react. Could she even move with the spell activated on her?

She attempted to raise one of her arms, feeling a bit of resistance as she did. Her body was completely stiff as if she was stuck in jelly or something. Despite how difficult it was for her to move around; it was still possible to do so. She likely just needed to practice a bit more to get used to the sensation.

Still enveloped by her Telekinetic force, Hazel started walking and moving around, attempting to adapt to the spell. With each step, shift, and leap she made, the stiff sensation she felt around her body slowly loosened, allowing her to move around better than before.

As she did this, it slowly dawned on Hazel that the reason why this was happening was because she was simply casting Telekinesis on herself to where it would keep her in place, much like what she did with the various objects she used to attack. But by having it adapt to her movements, she was able to loosen the restraints that her spell had on her body while still maintaining its effect.

It didn’t take long before Hazel succeeded in fully adapting to the telekinetic force around her. She did a couple of light jumps, taking note of how easy it was compared to before. Not only that, but while in the air, she noticed that she was several inches higher off the floor compared to before.

Hazel was momentarily caught off guard by this, causing her to accidentally lose her balance and fall on her rear.

“U-ugh...that hurt,” Hazel groaned, struggling to pull herself up.

It seemed that while under the effects of her Telekinesis, her body was a lot lighter compared to before. It seemed that her movements were a lot swifter and fluid, like nothing was restricting them. It kind of reminded her of when she first increased her Agility attribute a bit. The way she felt faster and nimbler than before was such a thrilling experience.

And what she was currently experiencing was incredibly similar, but ten times better. Hazel became engrossed in her sudden enhanced mobility and shifting her body around, amazed by how nimble she was now. Even while wearing the Arcane Dress, it was surprisingly easier for her to move from one spot to another.

“I should’ve done this sooner,” Hazel stated while letting out a sharp laugh, still amazed by this sudden revelation. “With this, I don’t have to worry about my Agility stat. At least to a certain extent.”

One of Hazel’s biggest weaknesses was her lack of physical capabilities. She wasn’t strong or fast or that durable. And that was because instead of focusing on her physical stats, she focused on her magical ones: Intelligence, Wisdom, and Willpower. Of course, Hazel was a mage, so she had no choice but to fully focus on these stats.

But after her latest discovery regarding the various uses of Telekinesis, she might’ve found a type of loophole around this disadvantage. So much so that with enough practice, she could become quite formidable against her opponents in the physical aspect as well as her magical one.

Playing around with her telekinetic mobility a little more, Hazel shifted gears and focused on the main objective she was attempting to do beforehand: using Telekinesis to fly. Stopping in place, she focused her telekinesis spell on herself, making sure not to apply too much pressure around her body like before.

Then, once properly enveloped, the witch slowly willed her body to float. She then began to feel herself slightly rise off the floor. Her feet slowly lost touch with the surface as they were lifted in the air. A few moments later, Hazel noticed that she was a couple of inches off the floor.

At first, Hazel was surprised that it worked and laughed. However, right after this, she then struggled to stay upright and tilted back and forth like a Weeble wobble toy. It got to the point where she spun around in a three-sixty motion before managing to keep herself in place with the help of Telekinesis.

Once she was more or less balanced, Hazel remained in the air, taking in this new experience.

“Whoa...” She uttered in awe, a wide and elated smile on her face. “This...is awesome!”

While in the air, Hazel willed herself to float higher, seeing if it was possible. She felt her body slightly propelled upward like a rocket. The sudden force caused her to lurch uncomfortably. However, after the initial inertia sickness passed, Hazel took in her current situation.

She was now several feet in the air, just calmly floating like some kind of superhero. While levitating, Hazel flew forward and backward, getting used to the sensation of flying. A part of her wondered if this was what Nycteris experienced every time he was in the air. She would likely have to ask him tonight.

Because tonight, Hazel planned to go back to the Spider Queen’s domain range for one thing, and one thing only: XP farming. She didn’t get much experience because she had to share it with the other players during the first two waves. But at night, she planned to hog all of the XP for herself.

She needed as much experience as possible to prepare herself for the Queen’s arrival, and since she couldn’t make a lot of progress during the day, her priority was to take advantage of the night and farm as much XP as she could.
