Chapter 42: Sleepless Night in Seattle
A romantic and warm love movie should be chosen for which period? Definitely Valentine's Day! The premiere of "Sleepless in Seattle" was held on the evening of February 13th.
Ryan still appeared with Nicole on the red carpet, although he was only attending his second movie premiere, but now it's different from before, both of them have been nominated for Oscar Best Supporting Actor and started to have their own fans.
Especially Ryan's role in "Home Alone" has won him the love of countless teenagers, on both sides of the red carpet, a large number of boys and girls holding up "Home Alone" posters gathered, when he waved his hand, they let out screams that far exceeded the imagination of ordinary people.
"Ryan, looks like you're way more popular than I am." Nicole joked.
"That's because there are not only movie fans here, but also many book lovers." He had seen it early on, those fans holding in their hands were not just posters, but also books, seemingly "Jurassic Park" and two Harry Potters.
"Ryan!" The scream grew louder and louder.
"Go on, don't let them down." Nicole patted him lightly.
Ryan walked over, pulled out a small pen from his tuxedo pocket, took a copy of "Jurassic Park", signed his name on the title page and smiled as he said, "Thanks for your support."
"Rowling, will the third Harry Potter book really be published in March?" a girl asked as she handed over her signed copy.
"Yes, if nothing unexpected happens, it should be around March 10th." Ryan asked, "What's the name?"
"Jenny!"
"Alright, Jenny, may your smile forever shine bright." He wrote a blessing after his signature.
This was the premiere of the movie, Ryan couldn't linger for too long, after signing about ten or so, he pointed to Nicole who was walking towards him and said, "Sorry, it's only up to here today, Nicole is waiting for me."
Fans were already satisfied to hear him confirm the release date of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, but in another burst of screams, Ryan quickly caught up with Nicole.
"Wow, his handwriting is really beautiful." A girl sighed with emotion.
"You're even more handsome than before."
"I heard he's studying at St John's Primary School, shall we go take a look?"
All movie premieres are more or less the same, with the cast taking a group photo and answering a few innocuous questions. Ryan walked into the theater, and due to her confidence in Ryan, Miramax had invited quite a few people this time.
He exchanged a few words with Harvey Weinstein, and although most people at the screening thought it was an excellent film, Mr. Stout remained lucid, aware that this movie could not reach the heights of "The Sixth Sense".
"We invested $200 million, and we estimate that the North American box office will exceed $1 billion." Harvey Weinstein said, then looked at the boy who was still shorter than his shoulder, "Ryan, do you have any new ideas?"
"Come on, Harvey, do you think I'm a vending machine for plot twists?" Ryan glared at him irritably. After all, this guy had already raised the flag of "Ryan Jenkins' first romance novel" during the promotion, causing many reporters to ask if he had a girlfriend.
"This is a really weird question! That was his only thought at the time, okay? He admitted that in some ways he still wasn't quite used to Western thinking."
After the people around dispersed, Harvey Weinstein held him back and asked in a low voice, "There's news circulating from the Terminator 2 crew that you're using your spare time to work on another script."
"Is that so." Ryan didn't wait for him to speak, continuing, "The script is for James Cameron, are you sure you want to invest in the movie he's going to shoot?"
Fat boy was stunned on the spot, he knew that the investment of Terminator 2 had exceeded $100 million, and Cameron was still asking for additional investment from the production side, now whoever saw him got a headache.
"The script is almost finished, and James estimates that the investment will likely exceed Terminator 2!" Ryan's words completely dispelled Weinstein's idea. Even if he got his hands on this script, changing directors would probably still result in a large investment, which Miramax can't afford right now.
Free from Harvey Weinstein, Ryan returned to Nicole's side. When he saw Nicole enthusiastically introducing him to people, he slightly bowed his head and said, "Ms. Foster, nice to meet you."
"You can call me Judy, Ryan. Nicole and I are friends, no need to be so polite." The boy scratched his head, Judy Foster and Nicole Kidman becoming friends? Which episode is this? It couldn't be...
Shaking her head, she threw those unreliable ideas to the farthest reaches of the sky. Ruien had looked through a lot of her data in her past life and knew that she should have already found a fixed same-sex partner.
She can be said to be the most successful child star in transformation, but during the transformation period, she still encountered big problems. Crazy fan John Hinckley Jr., in pursuit of her failure, went so far as to assassinate then-President Reagan to get her attention. Although old Reagan was very lucky and only lay in bed for six months, Jodie Foster had to temporarily retreat because of this.
Wait a minute! Ryan suddenly remembered something else, in his past life, he had watched "The Silence of the Lambs" at least ten times and remembered it very clearly. This movie should have premiered on Valentine's Day eve, which is today. How did Jodie Foster, the female lead, end up here?
"The fact is, 'The Silence of the Lambs' was originally scheduled to open today, but the producers felt that the film's atmosphere clashed with Valentine's Day, so they pushed it back a bit." Jodie Foster replied when asked.
"It's like that." Ryan nodded, and the movie was indeed not suitable for Valentine's Day viewing. It would be too weird for a couple to go see "The Cannibal Professor".
"Nicki, have time to bring Ryan over to my place for a visit."
Before entering the screening room, Judy Foster extended an invitation.
To be honest, the plot of this movie is very clichéd, and the segments are basically all Hollywood's overused ones. However, it can't be denied that this kind of online dating-style radio romance is very creative in this era. Moreover, whether it's Tom Hanks or Nicole Kidman, both have performed their roles with distinct characteristics.
Especially the plot of the Empire Building moved many people, and at the end of the movie, some people's eyes were filled with tears.
After the thunderous applause, Ryan walked up to the future American good man and said, "Mr. Hanks, your performance was fantastic! If this movie didn't have you and Nicole, it would be a total disaster."
"Thanks. Ryan, you can call me Tommy." Apparently, Tom Hanks is good at making people feel at ease. "During filming, I often heard Nicole mention you. Sometimes it's hard for me to imagine that such a romantic script would come from the hands of a child. Later, I found all your works and, honestly, Ryan, you are a genius."
"Thanks, Tommy." The boy smiled too; everyone likes to hear kind words.
He only provided the script for this movie, and after the premiere press conference, he didn't even go, hiding in the car early, and Nicole rushed over nearly an hour later.
"What's wrong? You look tired?" he asked as Nicole slid into the car.
"What else can I say, you don't go, those people will all aim their cannons at me." Nicole rubbed her forehead, with a helpless smile on her face. "They're all asking what inspired you to write such a touching love story, and they're even asking if you have a girlfriend in school, oh my god!"
Nikki suddenly covered her forehead, and her emotions seemed to fluctuate, but then she recovered, "And the reporter is counting your works from last year, two screenplays, one of which is an unpublished Harry Potter..."
"Are you describing me as a monster again? Or are you implying that I have an entire creative team backing me up?"
"Do you think with our two incomes, we can afford to support such a creative team? And let them dedicate themselves silently, without minding being behind the scenes all their lives?" Nicole smiled and grasped Ryan's hand, "You're so excellent, no one knows better than me!"
There's no doubt that this is a very suitable movie to watch on Valentine's Day, with warm and touching content, naturally becoming the first choice for couples to watch together.
It's not the hot summer or Christmas season, first there is no strong competitor, second it can get more cinema lines for the movie. After the first week, over 2,000 cinema lines, the movie earned $27.14 million at the box office, and with more Christmas movies going offline, the subsequent cinema lines will increase, following this trend, the North American box office exceeding $100 million seems to be a foregone conclusion.
Ryan doesn't care about these things, he has to go back to the crew, if he's late, James Cameron will definitely make him NG hundreds of times in one shot, he doesn't want to touch that tyrant's bad head.
Of course, he doesn't care, but that doesn't mean the media will let him off. Many newspapers and magazines have taken him out to talk about it, and even counted his works from last year for him.
Especially, Mira Max took this opportunity and started hyping again.
"So far, Ryan Jenkins has had three scripts made into movies. Excluding "The Sixth Sense", which was written in 1989, both "Home Alone" and "Sleepless in Seattle" were written last year. Recently, we learned from a knowledgeable source at Miramax that the latter two scripts were written by Ryan in just two months, simultaneously. Of course, "Home Alone" is an adaptation, but even so, his efficiency is terrifying. I wonder what those screenwriters who can't find inspiration for one script after several months will think?"
"What an insider! It's obviously Harvey Weinstein!" This is Ryan's comment after reading it, "If I let the fat man hype up again, one day I will become a monster with two horns on my head and wings on my back!"
Actually, he was very clear that his creation speed was slightly faster than his age, but 90% of the things he wrote didn't need to be thought about, as for inspiration? His outstanding artistic talent allowed him to capture every detail in life and creation.
