Chapter 43: Overture of Oscar
As James Cameron stood up from the director's chair, everyone burst into cheers. After 160 days of arduous filming, Terminator 2 was finally wrapped today.
As Ryan gazed at the whiskered man tightly embracing Linda Hamilton, he had an overwhelming urge to pour molten steel over his head, even though he knew that what looked like molten metal was just clear water illuminated by orange lights.
Since returning to the crew, he has not left again, especially in the final ending part of the play. Due to the renovation of the steelmaking workshop, it was placed at the end. In this complex environment, filming is inevitable, and he only had a few more skin injuries, but Linda Hamilton injured her leg bones some time ago.
"If I can, I'll never do an action movie again. It's too dangerous." Ryan's complaint at the time also drew Cameron's ire.
But is it possible? According to his plan, action movies are inevitable in the future. Do we really have to rely on pretentious and cheesy art-house films to compete for the highest honor?
"Arno, look at Jim, he can't even delay filming to pick up chicks, you're so out of date!" Ryan shook his head and looked over at Schwarzenegger.
"Don't think Jim is having a good time now, he'll have his own headache later." Schwarzenegger was gloating, while Catherine Brougham was the leader of the mother tigers. "Is your script finished?"
"Have you just finished filming? Don't you think you should take a good rest?" Ryan pointed to Cameron, "Jim has already confirmed that he will take over the script, but he said it won't be until next year at the earliest."
"I can rest while thinking about the role. It's not contradictory, is it?"
"Alright, the script is with Ms. Jin Silie, I'll let her know to give you a copy."
Back in the trailer, Ryan took off his shirt, revealing some small wounds on his body that hadn't healed yet. He was a little afraid to go back to Los Angeles, if Nicole saw these external injuries, he was very sure that the Australian girl would definitely come to the door and kill James Cameron personally.
But it's impossible for him to go back now, the Oscars are about to take place and there are two more important awards waiting for him to compete.
Although he was hiding in a remote suburb steel plant, the news about him has been circulating wildly over this period of time. Major newspapers called him a super genius, while tabloids called him a weird boy, especially after the publication of "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban", all sorts of rumors began to spread everywhere.
Thanks to the groundwork laid by the first two books, his reputation and the publisher's crazy hype, this book debuted on March 10th and shot to the top of the bestseller list in just one week, bumping "Jurassic Park" from the number one spot.
After the Oscar nominations were announced, "Jurassic Park", which had recently relinquished its crown, once again climbed to the top spot, stunning many people.
Combined with the sales boost from "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban", an unprecedented three books by the same author appeared in the top ten of the latest USA Today bestseller list, causing both amazement and criticism.
Tabloids, led by the New York Post, this time cleverly did not attack these works as ghostwritten, but instead changed their approach. They wrote articles criticizing the adult-oriented style of "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban", believing that most readers of this book are minors, and such a change would inevitably have a negative impact on some children. The National Association of Teachers and Parents called for a boycott of the work rather than recommending it as reading material.
Some people have even begun to criticize him, saying that from "Sleepless in Seattle" and his latest works, he is gradually losing the innocence that people admire.
"A childlike heart? You all used to say I was weird, too mature for my age, but never said I had a childlike heart." Facing the reporter's question, Ryan furrowed his brow and replied, "People always have to learn to grow up."
As the Harry Potter series' popularity and influence spread across all age groups, Rowling began to occupy a unique position in the hearts of American teenagers, with a group of her book fans and movie fans running to the editorial department of The New York Post to protest their attack on their idol.
The spokesperson for the Teachers' and Parents' Association also declared that the Harry Potter series and the Ryan Story Collection are among the best youth readings in recent years.
The tabloid quickly shifted its line of attack, with the California Independent running a piece in bold print that read: "There's no question Ryan Jenkins is a super genius, unless someone got hit on the head by a car, it's obvious to everyone that he and Nicole Kidman couldn't possibly afford such a creative team, in our view, these works are 100% from his hand."
Here, we want to discuss not his works but the moral issue of this talented boy. We are very certain that since he left the orphanage, he has never gone back to visit the place where he lived for seven years, and in the past year, he earned absolutely more than ten million dollars, but did not donate a single cent to the orphanage that raised him.
"Mrs. Maisie, the head of Norston Orphanage, claimed in an interview with us that Miss Nicole Kidman used extremely unscrupulous means to snatch away Ryan Jenkins' custody from the orphanage back then, and Ryan is an ungrateful boy whom she had helped a lot but never heard him say thank you until now!"
This article has drawn some attention, but was naturally ignored by mainstream society. Firstly, many people have some understanding of what welfare institutions are like nowadays. Secondly, Ms. Mercy is a black person who cannot be any blacker, and she attacked a white person with a rising reputation. The result can be imagined.
"I've already been very magnanimous by not going after her for an accounting, and yet she's come out again on her own initiative."
Sitting in the limousine on the way to the Sacred Citizens' Grand Auditorium, Ryan handed a copy of the California Independent Gazette to Paige Kingsley, "The accounts from that year should be settled!"
"What else do you want to do?" Nikki asked with some concern.
"Ryan, you're now a public figure, some things..."
"No, no, Paige, and Nicole, you've got it all wrong. I would never drag something like this into our lives." Ryan thought for a moment, deciding to seek out Kelsi's opinion after all, she was the professional.
After Ryan finished speaking, Jin Silie nodded slightly. This was indeed a good idea, and they could use those reporters to dig up old accounts from the past without getting themselves dirty.
However, there was a rather large loophole in this plan, she asked, "Ryan, what if you can't get on the podium?"
"No big deal, there's always another opportunity." Ryan shrugged, even if he didn't get the Oscar, he wouldn't have a chance to give that acceptance speech, but afterwards he could go on TV shows and such, although it would be much less effective.
The long red carpet seems to be endless, with handsome men and beautiful women gathering together, low-necked, deep V, sleeveless, backless and other evening dresses making a stunning appearance. Even if they are wearing the same dress, female stars will try their best to show off their unique side. This is a huge stage, where the annual super luxurious show - the Oscars ceremony is about to take place!
Nicole Kidman wore a tight-fitting off-the-shoulder evening gown, showcasing her tall and slender figure perfectly. Ryan held her hand as they stepped onto the Oscar red carpet for the first time in their lives.
With the huge success of "Sleepless in Seattle", Meg became a top Hollywood actress, and Ryan was the focus of all media attention recently. As soon as they stepped onto the red carpet, they immediately drew everyone's eyes.
The shutter clicks kept ringing out, countless films were killed in their journey, the fans of the two constantly screamed, they were like those two people holding hands on the red carpet, a whole.
As he walked through the interview area, despite the constant barrage of questions from reporters, Ryan just smiled and didn't show any interest in answering any questions. In fact, all the reporters who had dealt with him understood that this boy was not easy to get along with, not only was he cunning as a fox, but also extremely skilled at using his underage advantage.
After Nicole struck a stunning pose, Ryan simply beckoned her and led her into the grand hall of Sacred Citizens, where the red carpet was in some sense a battlefield for female stars. Next up would be the entire crew of "The Sixth Sense".
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has a rule that prohibits private contact with voters after the Oscar nominations are announced, although Harvey Weinstein had many connections within the Academy, he was still in his early days and not yet the PR god of the future, and he didn't have any confidence that "The Sixth Sense" could win an Oscar.
At this point, the penny-pincher will undoubtedly bid farewell to Little Golden Man in advance. After the nomination list was announced, Ryan and Nicole each took out $10 million and launched a powerful publicity campaign with Miramax.
They not only bought fifteen pages of space in Vanity Fair and The Hollywood Reporter, but also hired guns to write reviews about "The Sixth Sense" on major newspapers and magazines. These articles were mostly praise, with some criticism, just to keep the debate going and make the movie's topic continue to be hot.
It's not just "The Sixth Sense", every movie that has been nominated for major awards has launched a PR war, waving money around. At this time, the happiest ones are always the big PR companies.
"All the things we do, the promotion, the hype and the controversy, is just to make sure that every member of the Academy sees this film, at least sees some clips from it." This was said by Harvey Weinstein during a discussion on how to publicize.
Ryan just rolled his eyes, Harvey Weinstein is still somewhat restrained now, and what will happen later, no one knows better than him. He made the biggest bloodbath in Oscar history.
There's a meeting in the morning, so I'm posting this a bit early... Everyone, if you have any recommendation tickets to spare, please give some, thank you~~
