  Outside the city walls was farmnd as far as the eye could see. A sky alf could be seen flying away with his big bck wings. Sapphire ran to the griffin with Nova on her heels. Wulfwynn’s firm grip on her shoulder held Nova back. Wulfwynn had also grabbed Sapphire by the hand. “What do you think you are doing!” The artificer excimed. “Even as familiars, gryphons are dangerous beasts. Do as I do,” Wulfwynn instructed.

  The disguised noble woman slowly approached one of the gryphons with her hands stretched out in front of her. The gryphon cooed at Wulfwynn. The human approached the gryphon on the beast’s left side. She slowly grasped the saddle and put her foot in the stirrup. She carefully hoisted herself into the saddle, and tied the safety belt securely around her waist.

  Sapphire and Nova carefully followed her example. The gryphons growled as they approached. Both of them froze. “They are just greeting you. If you upset them they may snap with their beaks in warning. They can understand our nguage. Why don’t you introduce yourselves and ask if you can ride them?” Wulfwynn suggested.“Greetings noble steed I’m Sapphire half werewolf, half Alf. May I ride you today?” Sapphire asked. Kat had already mounted their steed. The gryphon sniffed Sapphire then nuzzled the wolf-kin’s face. “She likes you a lot go on mount her,” Wulfwynn encouraged Sapphire.With her tail wagging cutely, Sapphire mounted the gryphon quickly. The steed reared in surprise. Sapphy clung to the reins then petted the gryphon’s neck. “Easy girl, I can’t wait to fly with you!” Sapphire said gently.

  “I’m Nova,” The Succubus introduced herself.Nova boldly approached the st gryphon. The beast growled at her more. She held out her hands. The closer she got to the gryphon the more uneasy the beast looked. The gryphon suddenly moved her head toward Nova, snapping her beak at the succubus. The Gryphon let out a screech. Nova slowly backed away. The gryphon eyed Nova warily.

  Wulfwynn got off her gryphon. She slowly approached the agitated gryphon. The beast calmed down as Wulfwynn petted her. “Nova is safe, She might smell unusual, but she won’t hurt you,” Wulfwynn spoke softly. The human approached the demon. “Follow my lead,” She said, as she grabbed Nova’s hand.

  Nova carefully followed her companion as she was led back to the gryphon. The beast just growled at Nova. Wulfwynn went back to petting, and talking softly to the gryphon. Nova’s leg shook a bit as she put it into the stirrup. She hoisted herself up into the saddle trying not to think about all the ways the beast could tear her apart. Those sharp talons on her front feet. The razor sharp beak. Those powerful back legs with sharp cws on her paws. How will I survive this trip? Nova thought as she tied the saddle belt around her waist.

  “Let's catch that sky alf Cyneswith!” Wulfwynn said as she patted the gryphon’s neck.Cyneswith spread her wings wide she chirped excitedly in acknowledgement. She bent her legs close to the ground then pounced into the air her massive wings fpped powerfully propelling the gryphon into flight. Nova was jostled when her gryphon pounced following Cyneswith. The succubus tightly held onto the reins.

  “If only I was a wind demon I could fly by myself. Fuck you Echo!” Nova said under her breath while she swatted Echo with her slime self. I wonder how tasty that bug would be. “That was rude ma’am” Echo said as they quickly tucked themselves in-between Nova and her belt.“You are a persistent bug,” Nova remarked, disgruntled “I should eat you with my slime body.”“You would be lost without me, and you know that. I’m the only faerie you will ever have,” Echo responded smugly, crossing their arms.

  Nova sighed in response. She distracted herself by looking at the ground. Everything looked different with the change in perspective. Vilges and hamlets dotted the countryside. People looked like insects as they worked the fields. The irrigation canals were full from the frequent spring rains. Gentle slopes led to higher elevation, as they moved north the higher the ground became. The blue shape of mountains appeared in the distance. The sky soon became overcast with clouds. Clouds would briefly move in front of the sun casting a shadow on the world below. Nova kept on blinking in an attempt to get the tears from the wind out of her eyes. She was still white knuckling the reins, unable to wipe away her tears with her hands. I can use my slime body to protect my eyes from the wind! Nova moved a tendril of her slime self up to her eyes, she ate her own tears. The thin film of her slime body did not distort her vision much. Maybe Wynfdd could make eye protection for everyone.

  Staying hours in a saddle was very uncomfortable; the wind made holding conversations very hard. The inside of Nova’s thighs were really sore. Thankfully I tucked in my tunic or else my thighs would be even more chaffed by the hard saddle.“Please take me to Wynnfd?” Nova pleaded.The gryphon either did not hear her or ignored her. Nova needed a different communication approach. Since my magic can affect people's minds I wonder if I can use it to communicate?

  Nova could have asked Echo about it, but she wasn’t ready to hear the annoying bug speak again. She instead filled her erotic magic with communication intention. She moved her shaking hand from the reins and slowly brought it to rest on the gryphon’s head. She gathered the magic into her hand, and transferred it into the gryphon's head. The beast started repeating a song desperately. Did I just put her in heat? I didn't mean too! Just as Nova thought that her communication failed, the gryphon picked up speed and flew right next to Wulfwynn. Nova carefully petted the gryphon’s neck in gratitude.

  “Are we going to stop anytime soon?” Nova yelled over to the artificer. Wulfwynn’s hood had blown down. Her short hair was streaming behind her.“We won’t stop until we get to Bewaldburh,” Wulfwynn yelled back. Nova’s mount made another needy cry. Wulfwynn gred at Nova.“Calm her down!” The artificer yelled at Nova. The succubus put her hand back on her mount’s head. She felt the familiar painful rush of holy magic up her arm and out of her hand. Once she released the holy magic into her mount the gryphons' songs stopped. I need to be careful with mind magic. I need to learn how to use my magic if only I could find a master to teach me. Nova sighed.

  Nova didn’t realize when the developed nd had become obscured by the nifolwilde. The cursed fog hugged the ground tightly. The mountains also looked significantly closer. By midday the sky became significantly overcast. Rain started dropping slowly. A strong western wind buffeted Nova’s side. Her slime self wrapped the cloak tightly around her body for protection. Distant thunder rumbled. The rain fell heavier.

  Cyneswith dove to the ground as the wind blew them off course. Nova’s gryphon followed her leader's example, going into a fast dive. The feathers in Cyneswith’s tail stretched out as far as they could like a fan. She fpped her wings to slow her descent. Nova sent a ball of holy magic down into the fog and let it burst. They were descending into a huge forest. The trees blocked most of the wind. Nova could not have been more thankful they were flying over a dense forest.

  “I’m so grateful to have you here, priestess,” Kemen said, his golden eyes looking sincere.Nova nodded tiredly from atop her steed. Sapphire helped Nova get off the gryphon she was riding for way too long. “Can you bless our eyes,” Kemen suggested.Nova complied without compint allowing all her companions including the gryphons to see. The gryphon she was riding cooed, and nuzzled Nova. “Looks like Eormenhild has warmed up to you,” Wuflwynn said, as she was hiding under her hood again.“Eormenhild, you have a beautiful name,” Nova said, as she petted the gryphon’s head. The steed chirped in acknowledgement.

  “Lookout gangewifre webs!” Kat said loud enough for everyone to hear.Small bdes shot out from the dwarf’s belt into the fog. Sapphire took Nova’s helmet out of her bag. She carefully put the helmet onto her girlfriend’s head. Nova’s vision was greatly obstructed. Her hearing was also somewhat obstructed by the great helm. The succubus unstrapped her axe from Eormenhild’s saddle.

  A bleeding spider monster the size of a wolf leaped at Nova out of the fog. The spider missed her. Before she could bring her axe down on the monster it quickly ran circles around her. Before she knew it she could no longer move her arms. As the gangewifre wove a cocoon around her. Nova cried out in pain as she let out a bst of holy magic that dissolved the silk and burned the monster. The giant spider recoiled in pain. The succubus brought her axe down on the gangewifre before it could recover.

  Another monster rammed into Nova’s side knocking the breath out of her lungs. Nova stepped back so that she wouldn’t fall over. The gangewifre lunged forward to bite. Slime Nova wrapped herself around the giant spider’s head. Nova brought her axe down on the struggling arachnid.

  A thick net made of strong silk dropped from the sky. Nova and all of her companions became ensnared. The priestess screamed in pain as she released a shockwave of holy magic. Nova was unable to admire her work as she lost consciousness.
