In the Chaos Era, the universe consisted of nine different regions, each unique in its own way. By the end of the Chaos Era, the universe was left nearly destroyed. To prevent the remaining energy from slowly dissipating, the remaining powerhouses used their remaining power and the uniqueness of the nine regions to create the Tower of Yggdrasil.
