Chapter 127: The Magician Association 3

"Sister, I'm certain that your recruitment of Kenley wasn't solely due to his talent. Could it be because of Her Highness Princess Tia?" At this moment, Daina and Guinevere were seated in the same carriage, seemingly engaged in a profound discussion.

Guinevere gazed out of the window at the bustling street, where the throngs of people ebbed and flowed."In fact, it's a combination of both factors."

"I can understand Princess Tia. After all, she is a descendant endowed with the noble golden bloodline. But what about that young man? Although I must admit that he possesses remarkable abilities, he is still extremely young and has yet to fully mature. No one can predict with certainty the heights of his future achievements. I believe there is an element of chance involved," Daina continued.

"Daina, I have faith in my intuition."

"But intuition is not always a reliable guide."

"I understand that you may find it difficult to comprehend, Daina. Ever since I donned the Crown of the Holy World, I have experienced a sensation that is beyond the grasp of ordinary mortals. Just as the wizard's ballad intones, there lies a deeper significance hidden behind the fable, and Kenley is the very person alluded to within it," Guinevere enunciated her thoughts slowly.

Daina fell into a thoughtful silence. Indeed, Guinevere was a natural-born magician who had exhibited astonishing magical prowess from a tender age. This was precisely why their father had entrusted the Crown of the Holy World to Guinevere ahead of time.

"If you are so convinced, then I shall offer my unwavering support... However, I will persist in observing him closely. After all, the honor and principles of the Christophon family must not be sullied by a newly inducted vassal," Daina seemed to have reached a resolution.

"I am delighted to hear you say so, my dear sister."

After saying this, as the carriage came to a gentle halt in front of the Magician Association, Daina was the first to alight.

Escorted by Daina, Guinevere made her way directly towards the Magician Association.

"Is today's routine the same as usual?" Daina inquired as they walked.

"Yes. By the way, did you conduct a thorough inspection of the gift for Teacher Puffman?"

"Rest assured, everything is in order."

Guinevere nodded and headed towards the main hall. Just then, she chanced upon the scene where Puffman was engaged in a wager with Green.

No sooner had Green taken her seat than Puffman's eyes lit up."My exceptional student, is today's schedule unchanged?"

Guinevere immediately curtsied upon seeing Puffman."Good afternoon, my esteemed teacher."

"Greetings, President Puffman." Even with Daina's fiery temperament, she showed the utmost deference and did not dare to be the least bit negligent in the presence of this venerable white-haired elder.

"It is Princess Guinevere. Good afternoon," Green promptly returned the courtesy.

"I noticed just now that you and Teacher Green appeared to be in a dispute. Was it a disagreement regarding matters of magic?" Guinevere asked, her curiosity piqued. Puffman was a renowned veteran magician, a master figure revered by all in Marlen Imperial City. Although Green's reputation did not rival that of Puffman's, Guinevere, who was well-versed in the history of Marlen Imperial City, did not dare to show the slightest disrespect towards Green. When they met, she still addressed her as"teacher" out of respect.

Puffman cast a sidelong glance at Green and said with a smile,"It is indeed related to magic, but specifically, it concerns a certain individual."

"An individual?" Guinevere was intrigued. What kind of person could capture the attention of two such eminent figures, both of whom had long been renowned in the magical community?

Guinevere herself was a magician, blessed with an innate and highly acute perception of magic. Although she was not consumed by an obsession with magic, she was not far from it.

How could she not be curious about someone who had managed to draw the attention of the president of the Magician Association and the Elixir Witch, both master-level practitioners?

"Actually, we are simply making a bet on this person's talent."

  "Talent? Pray, elaborate."

"I told Green that if this individual is able to master the [Rain Summoning] spell on the very first day of learning it, then she must concoct a peerless-level elixir for me. If not, then I shall present her with a tome of inherited magic runes," Puffman picked up the book once more.

"Fascinating... The Rain Summoning spell... Although I have not studied it myself, I am eager to give it a try. It is said that the Saint Magician from the Northern Icefield spent an entire year perfecting the Rain Summoning spell to reach the master level. Teacher Puffman, do you not think it rather exaggerated to bet that this person can achieve proficiency within a single day?" Guinevere furrowed her brow.

Daina interjected,"Mr. President, although I am not a magician myself, I have also dabbled in the art of being an Elementalist. The Rain Summoning spell, although it is a form of life magic, is not something that can be mastered within a single day. It is simply not a realistic expectation."

"You see, Puffman. I told you beforehand that no one would believe that fellow could master it on the first day," Green exclaimed, visibly elated upon hearing Guinevere and Daina's remarks, and suddenly feeling even more confident.

"I still stand firm in my opinion," Puffman said, showing no signs of irritation.

"Very well, very well. I concede that I cannot persuade you. Let us cease this argument. I hope you will not forget the wager you promised me when you lose later," Green said, her face radiating confidence.

"Of course not," Puffman replied, still wearing a warm smile.

Taking this opportunity, after Guinevere presented the gift she had brought for Puffman, she said,"Then I shall not disturb you any further, Teacher. I shall proceed to the third floor."

"Go ahead, my exceptional student," Puffman said.

Green looked surprised."Princess Guinevere, are you not at all curious about that mysterious individual?"

Guinevere, who was on the verge of ascending the stairs, turned around and said,"Teacher Green, I do not believe that anyone is capable of mastering the Rain Summoning spell on the first day. Naturally, I cannot muster any curiosity about this person."

In Guinevere's view, she understood Teacher Puffman just as Green did. He was an elderly man who, on occasion, could be rather whimsical and often came up with outlandish ideas. Naturally, she did not find Puffman's unconventional behavior strange or cause for dissatisfaction.

Green nodded and did not utter another word. However, she knew that Kenley was already a noble in Duke Christophon's fief. If Kenley were to lose the bet later, Guinevere would remain unaware that the mysterious person was Kenley, thus sparing Kenley from embarrassment.

So, Green deliberately refrained from mentioning Kenley's name, thereby preserving a modicum of his dignity. She had heard that Daina, the illegitimate daughter of Prince Christophon, harbored little favor towards Kenley.

Thus, Kenley was engaged in reading on the second floor, while Guinevere made her way to the third floor. By chance, the four of them managed to avoid each other.

  Approximately two hours later...

"Teacher Puffman, I would like to take copies of those four sets of books with me. Here is the payment," Kenley returned to the reception desk accompanied by Tia.
