The next day, Xania goes through her same daily routine, wake up, brush her teeth, cleanse herself with her flames, and materialize a new set of clothes to replace her then burnt ones. But today is special, today is ‘work day’ one of the few days Xania doesn’t get to sleep half the day, annoys Anise for another quarter, and eats for the last quarter.
“Dammit, why did I suggest this?” She muttered to herself, in the midst of continuously burning her clothes and materializing new ones to try to get one as perfect as possible.
“Finally done,” She said as she looked at herself in her dress in the mirror, “now I have to go and make sure Anise doesn’t do anything stupid.”
Xania teleported to the training grounds, finding Anise there with a couple of grey-coloured balls of wool, recognizing them as the explosives, “what soft bombs.” She muttered softly, looking around to find Graunter, the one usually training the soldiers.
“Where’s Graunter?” Xania asked, turning to Anise who responded with a knowing shrug.
“...” Xania stared for a moment before deciding not to ask further.
“Alright everybody, your usual… training coach isn’t here currently so I’ll take over today!” Anise shouted, turning back to the soldiers as she did so, calling Graunter a coach due to not knowing what to call him nor really caring about trying to find out.
The soldiers all stood still without a response, indicating they didn’t have a problem with it as one soldier at the front spoke up, “Uhm… Miss Anise? Can I call you that?” The soldier asked with Anise nodding in response. “Uh, where is our ‘coach’?” The soldier asked, following Anise in using the term ‘coach’ for Graunter due to not knowing how to refer to him.
“I talked to him, and he allowed this,” Anise responded as the soldier raised her arm again, “No… I mean… he told us before not to listen to you if he became absent without notice,” the soldier said which caused Anise to think for a short while.
“He did?” Anise asked, forcing a smile to hide any annoyance earned from that piece of information.
“Y-yes?” The soldier answered, unsure of why Anise had asked.
“Very well, I’ll go and ‘talk’ to him later,” Anise said, making sure to emphasize the ‘talk’.
“Anywaayyyssss…” Anise said, dragging the word out, “We’re gonna practice 2 things today. First is dodging, second is dodging,” Anise finished her sentence as Xania looked over confused.
“Wasn’t it just going to be bombing?” Xania asked, earning a slightly evil yet mischevious grin from Anise as Anise turned to look at her.
This story has been taken without authorization. Report any sightings.
“Of course my lord. But you didn’t think it was only them who were going to be doing the bombing were you?” Anise said, making Xania mentally wish good luck to the soldiers.
“Everybody, lets starts off with the bombing so you all know what to expect later,” Anise said, turning to everybody as she passed them each a box of a dozen bombs.
Anise made them all stand separately, facing a single direction as they all grab one of the very soft bombs from the box.
“Ready,” Anise said, causing them to all be somewhat nervous
“Se—” Anise tried to say before Xania interrupted.
“Hey Anise, some of them can’t even use mana, so how do they infuse it?” Xania asked, causing Anise to turn to her annoyed.
“You just ruined the tension and suspense from my count down,” Anise said, crossing her arms, “I already took that into account so it’ll blow up on 2 conditions. First is if it travelled a certain distance, obviously won’t be too much but whatever, second is if it got hit by something strong enough.”
“So, if I grabbed it gently, it’d blow up?” Xania asked, causing Anise to get slightly more annoyed.
“My lord, do you really need these bombs? Come on, your fireball is already much stronger,” Anise said, tempted to throw one at her face.
“No, thats not the problem here…” Xania said, not knowing how to phrase her sentence.
“Then what is the problem? I already took everything into account okay? There’s not going to be an—” Anise said, getting suddenly interrupted by an explosion behind her, causing her to turn around and find a demon who looks like a minotaur and is physically stronger than others getting blown away due to gripping the bomb too tightly.
“Oh,” Anise said, realising the problem.
“Everybody! Do not grip the bomb too hard lest you end up like him!” Anise shouted out, using mana to enhance her voice to make herself loud enough for everybody to hear.
Xania healed the demon who got blown up as he slowly goes back to his position, grapping another bomb, making sure to be gentler this time, “Ouch,” he muttered softly to himself.
“Okay, everybody, lets try this again,” Anise said, pausing for a short while as she takes a deep breath, preparing to shout, “Set, Go!” Anise shouted, starting back from the ‘set’ and not caring about drawing out the count down.
The demons quickly all threw the bombs as they all land at different distances, each blowing up an area around 5 times wider than a grenades. The soldiers all despite being of different races, are all thankfully stronger than an average human and were luckily able to throw the grenades around 60 meters at least, keeping them safe.
“Nice,” Anise said, watching the dust clouds from the explosion all settle down.
“Everybody, aim at where the arrow is!” Anise shouted, materializing a massive red ‘X’ on the grond.
“Thats an ‘X,’ not an arrow,” Xania said, annoying Anise.
“It doesn’t matter, they got the point,” Anise retorted.
“Yea but, thats still an—” Xania said, getting interrupted by Anise.
“Fine, fine, it’s a damn ‘X!’ ” Anise shouted angrily.
“Ready, Set…” Anise said, causing them all to prepare to throw the bombs again, “Go!” Anise shouted teleporting Xania into the middle of the ‘X’ as she did so.
As Xania shields herself, one got through, ruining her hair, getting dust in her eyes and blow her clothes up, which she materialized new clothes over instantly before the dust settled, “...”
As the dust settled, Xania stands there, crossing her arms, her hair still ruined, her body still covered in dust as the soldiers and Anise all stare at her, the soldiers not knowing how to react at the Demon lord’s ‘closest aid’ as Anise said last time as a joke, just blew up her own lord. Anise, the cause of this, stands there, smirking.
