Chapter 3 - Fate!

  {Somewhere else in another Tutorial}

The Pearson family was one of the oldest families in England, they weren't ever considered royal by any means but they have always hedged their bets. Showered in wealth her whole life Anette Pearson never expected that one day she would have to walk in a forest with a handgun in her hands as she saw her brother James murder a greenish dwarf.

'Or goblin as the floating screen tells us,' She thought, she saw her brother frowning and asked, "What happened James, you got the achievement right, now can we start?"

"Yes... I mean no I didn't get the achievement," James replied he stared at the goblin by his feet as a couple of guards blocked the other two goblins that were still around.

"Let another one go, "He held the m4 firmly in his hands and opened fire at the distraught goblin that came crying at him with his hands waving.

  ~Bang~~Bang~~Bang~~Bang~

With another 4 shots and a burst of blood, another goblin was lying dead on the floor. He still got a normal notification about a goblin death. The last goblin saw what happened to his two companions and he started running.

  ~Bang~~Bang~

It ran closest to Anette so she took aim and fired a couple of shots, her second shot flying straight through its brain making it flop down instantly. Anette looked proud of her shot but before she could continue a red notification appeared in front of her, she suppressed her shock with a small frown as James came to her side.

  "You okay sister?" He asked.

"Yeah, it's just there was no 50% reduction this time but there was one when we had to kill those herd of 4 rabbits..." Anette managed to dodge James's question as she rapidly read the text that appeared in front of her.

  ...

'But how... James just killed them before me, and what does it mean by other species were they not monsters too?' Anette thought, she looked back and remembered the human-like emotions the goblins displayed and then to the tutorial message that they got when they first arrived.

She had fiddled with her status for a bit after they obliterated the rabbits, so when she opened her status this time it took just a moment for her to recognize the change.

She calmly processed everything but didn't say anything, no one would even suspect her having this title as her brother was tasked with getting the first kills by Father. Indifferent she may try to be she couldn't ignore the excitement that was bubbling inside her.

  'Here's my chance...'

Back home her life wasn't worth much, except for the money she didn't have any other ambitions other than to maybe settle down someday. Her being a Pearson came with a lot of perks but when she heard from her father that the minister that they had in their pocket disclosed some information about an impending apocalypse and the details, her life changed.

A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.

"Alright let's get moving, Mark lead the way," James ordered, he was quite happy at his title, he got a 15% Exp boost when hunting monsters from his {Monster Hunter} Title.

Anette stared at Mark as he quickly looked up at the sun and began walking forward, she didn't know much life skills so the help of Mark and Eric was substantial in their journey. Both of them were retired from the army and now work for their family.

Due to them getting early info that all the governments around the world did, they were able to snatch away the titles of {Monster Hunter} and {Conqueror}. Though both of them had a huge element of luck and she wasn't even sure about the second title.

A destiny was forever altered just because someone someplace else clicked 'No' a few seconds later.

  ...

Lukas read through the whole description of the {Conqueror} title and after a brief moment of confirming the pros and cons, he rejected the second title. Although the second title was more powerful in terms of attributes and maybe it would work well in the long run, Lukas was pretty content with the special skill and stat the {Psychopath} title gave him.

And while he may or may not believe in destiny, the title did look like it worked best for him.

'Will the Conqueror title be forever lost or will someone else get it...' Lukas thought but before he could answer the question another screen appeared in front of him.

  ...

  ...

Lukas looked at the notification in surprise, he was not expecting to be compensated after he lost out on the title.

'I would have liked another title but this works I guess, what the heck is inventory thoug-' His thoughts paused as he looked at the 10 grids that appeared in front of him. 3 of these grids were filled with items, Lukas ignored the red and blue bottle that should be the most standard mana and health potion and extended his hands to grab the dagger out.

The dagger looked like it was made of bone, at least the material looked like a bone, it had a blunt edge that was straight but its sharper edge had jaded scar-like patterns. The handle was made of leather wrapped around one end of the dagger, it looked like it was made by a beginner but since it was a {Unique} rated weapon, he was expecting it to have some good attack power.

He looked at the dagger and a small popup window-like text appeared above it...

  ...

Lukas stared at the dagger in astonishment, he had quite good control of his emotions but this seemed too good to be true. The dagger looked mediocre and ordinary but its value was equivalent to the Holy Grail that the templar had been hiding since the fucking dawn of time.

He stood there reading the description again and again until he could recite the description by heart. He put the dagger back in his inventory and looked at the health and mana potions that were in there.

'Why didn't a notification tell us about the existence of the inventory,' Lukas thought as he took out the two magazines from his inventory placed them in there, and then closed the inventory with a thought. He was about to test some other functions when another notification came that reminded him of the two goblins who were still crawling on the ground seemingly trying to escape.

  'Well, one goblin...'

  ...

  ...

One of the goblins had already died, even though the bullet he shot wasn't aimed at any kill spots but then again he didn't know the anatomy of the goblin.

Lukas stared at the last goblin and then thought about the dagger, he opened his inventory and pulled out his dagger and with one couple of steps and one swipe, he lopped off the last goblin's head freeing it from its misery.

Lukas looked at the green blood that gushed out of the goblin's neck for a moment he thought for a moment then he bent down and used his dagger to carve open the goblin from the middle. More blood gushed out and Lukas stepped aside for a moment and then used his dagger to take aside to look at the anatomy for a moment.

He patiently looked at the organs that were present in the goblin for a moment for a few moments before he frowned and stood up.

'I need to stop wasting time looking for first achievements and level up, one thing for sure is that I got some TP to work with. If I could collect more TP and get another item of the same caliber as my dagger then the burden of the stage after the tutorial would lessen.' Lukas thought as he sidestepped the corpse of the goblins and kept going on the way.

Lukas leveled up once more during this fight so he swiftly put the 2 points he got from leveling up and put both of them to his reflex stat. He had a general idea of what he would go for, the {Psychopath} title gave him the advantage of not having to worry about making a mistake with his stat distribution so he could freely make sure to focus on his advantages for now.

He gripped the dagger tightly and then dashed straight into the clearing once again...

'If the goblins are real then so should the other species from fantasy novels right, I wonder if the elves are real, or maybe the dark elves...' Lukas thought as he pushed the lustful thoughts that came into his mind aside.

He may be a Psychopath but that doesn't mean he doesn't appreciate beauty. He just didn't regard people as worth anything...

  ...

  ...that sounded bad, didn't it?
